Abstract

It is shown that the current system of environmental management in Ukraine is inefficient because if its centralized nature. The improvement of environmental quality has been largely achieved in the European Union and some unitary states due to decentralization of environmental management. The arguments are advanced that it is necessary to build the environmental management system in Ukraine that would be based on the principle of environmental federalism.
